Reading Camille Paglia’s Sex and Violence or Nature and Art in a dingy flat just off the Great North Road broke a fifteen year artistic drought, and in the summer of 1999 Ralph Proops first conceived the idea of a slim volume of Poetry titled Guild of Scavengers. The collection was written in various garrets around Wellington which, after an itinerant childhood in the United Kingdom, he has chosen as his adopted home city.

Guild of Scavengers is his first collection of poetry.
