  Should you care to pray
for me,
please pray for lucidity.

 I yearn
for cognizance, awareness
when I go forth.

I want to
savour the experience
whatever,

watch the dream unfold.

Some comments from Pat's friends who have read the book

Dear pat - your poetry book is a gem!  Thank you for my signed copy.  It is beautifully produced and you must be pleased with that too!  Keep it up.
Love Gail

Loved the book Pat. They really touched me , especially
" Waiting for Jaybee"this held a special meaning for me. Bye for now Val

Pat,  Sincere congratulations , your little book is a real gem.

To be honest I am not much into poetry, although I could say I appreciate " Dirty British coaster, with a salt caked smoke stack beating up the channel on a mad march day"   Forgotten who wrote that !.

My own , of course is the favorite , but I also was quite moved by the pathos of the mother visiting gaol, the reality of it hits hard. "The Dark Continent"
also brings home the stark nature of the African problem and is contrast to the mega concerts and cash aid (however wonderful in their concern).
The tension between Capitalism and Socialism (I am scared of communism) comes out,  as also what would appear to be a life time of observation, and probably quite a bit of sorrow.

It moved me and I value the thoughts you so ably share.

With regards     Des Spence.
