The Windrift Haiku Group.
Windrift is one of only two poetry groups in New Zealand devoted solely to the study of haiku and related Japanese poetic forms. The other is the Small White Teapot Group in Christchurch.  the taste of nashi is Windrift's first venture into publishing, undertaken with the support of the New Zealand Poetry Society, which encourages haiku writing and published two earlier New Zealand Haiku anthologies in the 1990s (both edited by Cyril Childs).

Windrift's Convener, Karen Butterworth and Secretary-treasurer Nola Borrell jointly edited the taste of nashi, with support and encouragement from group members and the wider New Zealand haiku community. These two friends also co-organised a New Zealand-wide haiku festival held in Wellington in 2005, assisted by the late Jeanette Stace. Jeanette was also involved in planning the taste of nashi until her death late in 2006. A grant from her estate substantially assisted the anthology's publication.

the taste of nashi can be ordered by posting $25 to Nola Borrell, 177A Miromiro Rd, Normandale, Lower Hutt; or Karen Butterworth, 29 Kirk St., Otaki. Please make cheques payable to Windrift Haiku Group.
